April 2012 - TITANIC, Return to Cherbourg
On 10 April 1912, Cherbourg was the first stop-over of the Titanic. In 2012, jointly with the towns associated with the liner’s history, Cherbourg is celebrating the centenary of the giant of the seas. The Cité de la Mer is opening a permanent exhibition over 2500 m² dedicated to the history of emigration and the Titanic: “TITANIC, Return to Cherbourg”.  Titanic, retour à Cherbourg

28 April 2012 - The Mont-Saint-Michel Maritime Character Restoration project
Opening of the new car park and shuttle service.
The work is intended to profoundly restore the landscape which provides a setting for one of the key locations of Humanity and to renew the approach to the site, in the spirit of its crossings.
In 2012, it is progressing in great strides. The car park (2.5 km from the Mont), the tourist information centre and the shuttles will be operational in the spring.

12 and 13 May 2012: Presqu’île en Fleurs in the park of Ravalet Castle at Tourlaville.
Meeting place for garden enthusiasts, this botanical event gathers numerous nursery gardeners and producers of rare and precious plants from the five continents in the picturesque setting of Ravalet Castle.

12 May to 23 September 2012 – “Stars en Dior - De l’écran à la ville” (Stars in Dior - From screen to town) at the Christian Dior Museum in Granville
2012 will pay tribute to 7th Art at the Christian Dior Museum and, over the summer, the lounges in Villa “Les Rhumbs” will become those of cinema stars dressed in Dior, on screen and in town.
Even before 1947 and the creation of the fashion house which bears his name, Christian Dior displayed his skills as couturier for the cinema. He worked with renowned film-makers (Claude Autant-Lara, René Clair, etc.) and designed the costumes of famous actresses.

Later on, it was upon the initiative of actress Marlene Dietrich that the name of Christian Dior was to be associated with one of the greatest film-makers of the 20th century: Alfred Hitchcock. Since then, there have been endless links between the cinema and the Dior House. The Dior House dresses stars on stage and in town and works in collaboration with film-makers for films promoting its perfumes.

17 to 21 August 2012: The Traversées Tatihou (Tatihou crossings) at Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue

Held on the second weekend of September, the Sainte-Croix millennium fair at Lessay attracts 300,000 visitors. Nearly 2,000 stalls, 50 roast meat sellers and numerous fairground activities, horse fair, cow, sheep and goat fair, dog fair.

October 2012 (to be confirmed): Festival coquillages et crustacés (Shellfish and crustacean festival) at Granville 
The sea, omnipresent around Granville, is the theme of this gastronomic festival. Pride of place for shellfish … obviously! Granville is the leading shellfish port in France. Whelks, clams, dog cockles, queen scallops, scallops are all on show, staged by the Chefs. Shellfish and crustaceans straight from the fishing boat or breeder are on sale, catering on site. Events, tasting, cooking demonstrations, etc.

15 to 28 December 2012: Crèche vivante (Living nativity scene) at Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët.
Show staging some forty actors and numerous animals for a series of scenes recounting the story of the nativity. The texts are read by famous French artists.
